Practice Drills & Game Modes
Make Practice Count. Make it Fun.
The 9Putt mat isn’t just for casual rolls. It’s built for serious drills and re-playable challenges. Whether you’re looking to fine-tune your stroke or compete with friends, we’ve got formats that keep practice fresh and improvement constant.
Practice Drills
1.
9 in a Row
Start with the biggest cup and try to make one putt in each hole clockwise. Miss? Start over. Builds pressure, precision, and mental focus.
2.
One-Cup Mastery
Pick the hardest cup. Stay there until you drain five in a row. Builds confidence under pressure.
3.
3-Ball Reps
Choose one hole. Putt three balls in a row. Repeat for each cup. Focuses on repeatability and stroke control.
4.
Ladder Drill
Putt to cups in ascending difficulty, from largest to smallest. Track how far you get before missing. Great for speed and distance control.
5.
Distance Control Zones
Stand in one position and alternate putts between farthest and closest cups. Trains feel and pace awareness.
Game Modes
6.
Around the World
Our most popular game. Take one putt at each hole, moving clockwise. Complete in fewest strokes, fastest time, or most in a row without missing.
7.
Sprint
Time yourself to complete one successful putt in each cup. Misses count as retries.
8.
3 Lives
Each Player starts with three lives. Miss a putt, lose a life. Last player standing wins.
9.
HORSE
Like the basketball game, call your cup, your line, and your putt. If your opponent misses the same challenge, they get a letter.
Built-in Challenges. No Other Gadgets Needed.
With chip markers, printed game cards, and real putting feedback, 9Putt makes practice easy to start and hard to stop. Whether you’re grinding solo or battling friends, you’ll find a reason to play tomorrow.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
Practice, play games, and battle your friends. From solo sessions to competitive challenges, the mat was designed to make putting more engaging, more social, and a lot more fun.
-
Grab a putter and a ball (and maybe a few friends) and start putting to any hole you like.
The larger holes on the left—with Hole 4 being a regulation-size golf cup—are perfect for warming up and building confidence. For an added challenge, move to the smaller holes on the right. As the target gets smaller, focusing on your stroke, starting line, and speed becomes even more important—exactly the skills that translate to making more putts on the course.
-
Reducing your target size is a proven training method in sports where accuracy matters. You may have heard the phrase “aim small, miss small”—and putting is no exception.
Practicing on smaller holes magnifies even slight issues with alignment, speed, or starting line. If you can consistently hole putts on a smaller target, regulation cups on the course will start to feel bigger and more forgiving.
We recommend starting with the larger holes to warm up, then gradually working across the arc toward the smaller holes as your confidence builds.
-
Not at all. In fact, the mat was originally designed to make playing games with friends easy and fun.
Play games like Around the World, Knockout, Race to the End, Perfect 45, and more. Whether you’re competing head-to-head or creating your own challenges, the number of games you can play is only limited by your imagination.
-
Definitely not. While many training aids are built only for elite players, 9Putt was designed to be flexible enough for both serious practice and casual fun.
The mat is long enough to work on the most important putts in golf—3, 4, 6, and 8 feet—the distances that turn pars and bogeys into birdies and eagles. Whether you’re a weekend golfer or a low-handicap player, those reps matter.
-
Our patent-pending arc design is inspired by a famous drill used by Phil Mickelson, where he would attempt to make 100 three-foot putts in a row without missing.
We figured: if it worked for Phil, why not the rest of us? Most golfers don’t have constant access to a perfectly manicured practice green—but with 9Putt, you can roll out the mat anywhere and work on the most important part of your game: putting.
